Red River Valley Mothers of Multiples (RRVMOM) is a nonprofit organization that has provided support to mothers and expectant mothers of multiple-birth children (e.g., twins, triplets, quadruplets, quintuplets) in the Red River Valley and surrounding areas for more than 25 years.
Our mission is to help mothers of multiples deal with the unique circumstances and challenges of raising multiple birth children by providing educational opportunities and a community of encouragement.
We meet the second Tuesday of every month from September through May to share parenting tips, give and receive support, hear educational speakers and socialize.
The club offers outreach services, including a preemie closet, play groups, baby rocking, bed-rest baskets and bereavement support through our sub-group named "Always MOMS". The Higher Order Multiples of our organization also have developed a subgroup to meet the unique challenges triplets or more bring to a family. Scholarships are available to potential members who are unable to join due to their financial situation.
We enjoy moms-only social activities, family events and philanthropic fundraisers for such organizations as March of Dimes, Children's Miracle Network and The Giving Tree. We also provide information to area hospitals and physicians' offices.
We have a history rich in service and education and an outstanding outlook for our future. Building on the strength of our past, we continue to modify our programs to meet the present and future needs of the membership. As multiple births increase in the Red River Valley, RRVMOM is growing to fill a niche in the community.
Fifteen officers - including a president, vice presidents, a treasurer and a secretary - oversee the function of the club, which currently counts more than 130 members.
